Love the videos however Softail comes from the look and design of the original hardtail motorcycles which had no rear suspension.

The Softail mimicked the rigid frame bikes of the early days, but with the rear suspension two shocks, heading under the frame.

they are called Soft Tails because they give you the look of the old Hard Tail frames but give you rear suspension comfort.
