I’ve struggled with this for awhile so I thought I would make a video talking a bit about it… I haven’t found a way to really share my nature and wildlife work without feeling like it’s always overshadowed by my other work. That’s why I opened @THE STUDIO. I wanted a place to create while also being able to display the work I’m incredibly proud of. But ultimately, running a trans owned studio/shop, hosting events to get people in, and feeling the pressure of needing to be open became too much for me, especially in this political climate. I’m forever thankful for the opportunity to bring community together through my art but I also have to put myself, my mental health, and my safety first. I love being trans — I truly do. But it’s exhausting when it feels like that’s the only part of me people recognize. Right now, I’m in a strange in-between. So much around me is changing, and I’m not exactly sure where I’m headed yet. Our lease is up in October, but with all our travel plans this year, we’re hoping to start moving out a little earlier. And to be honest, the only thing that’s keeping me going right now is my passion for traveling and seeing the world. So for now, that’s where I’m trying to focus my energy while also trying to make a living.
