@urbansadhuyoga: Patanjali’s third Niyama is Tapa. Tapa translates into “inner heat,” “consumed by heat,” or “to be hot.” The reference to heat in accordance with a Yoga Sadhana implies that one must have a “burning desire,” “earnest ambition, ” or an “all-consume drive” to achieve this thing called Yoga. You will also hear Tapa translated as “self-disciplined,” and I would agree with that interpretation. To reach any high goal you must be focused and dedicated. The metaphor of heat also implies a burning away of the old “self” for the identification with the true “SELF” to be revealed. Think of the mystical Phoenix rising from its own ashes. #yoga #urbansadhu #yamasandniyamas #yogasutras #tapa #heat #selfdiscipline #yogateachertraining #urbansadhuyoga #urbansadhuyogamovement #yogaphilosophy #burning #self
