🌸 Footage from last year🌸Fushimi Castle, located in the southern part of Kyoto, Japan, is a historic castle originally constructed in the late 16th century during the Azuchi-Momoyama period. The castle was built by Toyotomi Hideyori, the son of the famous warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and was intended to be a symbol of his power in the region. The structure of Fushimi Castle is known for its striking design, with a combination of traditional Japanese architectural styles, including a multi-storied keep (tenshu) and beautifully adorned exterior. It sits on a hill, offering a commanding view of the surrounding area. Fushimi Castle was an important military and administrative center during its time, especially during the turbulent years of the late Sengoku period. However, Fushimi Castle was destroyed during the early Edo period (around 1623), and only a few remnants of the original structure remain today. Despite this, a reconstruction of the castle’s keep was completed in 1992 to preserve its historical significance and provide visitors with a glimpse into Japan’s feudal past. Today, the reconstructed castle offers exhibitions on the history of the castle and the region, attracting both history enthusiasts and tourists interested in Japanese heritage. Surrounding the castle are beautiful gardens, and it is a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing in the spring. The area also has significant historical importance, with connections to key figures in Japan’s unification. 🚶 20 minutes on foot from Tambabashi station 🚉 and very close to Fushimi Inari! #kyoto #fushimi #spring #cherryblossom
