@tows_and_tails: We have 2 chicken coops, and most of our chickens sleep in there. But there’s a small group that sleep in a tree in our front yard. Something has been getting them at night, so we put up a camera to see what it was. And we caught this beautiful coyote or fox jumping in the tree. Am I mad? Absolutely not! She is a hungry animal, who is losing her habitat and natural food sources at an alarming rate. She has no way of understanding that these chickens “belong” to someone. She sees an opportunity to feed herself (and possibly her babies), so how can I be mad about that? It’s my job to secure and protect my animals. And we will absolutely make sure our coops stay secure, and that our dogs are monitored when outside. But I will never, ever be mad at a wild animal trying to survive. I think she’s beautiful, and this land is shared by us and all the wildlife that lives here too 💜 (Also rehab friends: coyote or fox? I am not 100% sure 😂)
