True story. I was doom scrolling on Instagram over the weekend, as you do, when I spotted something that caught my eye. It was a sponsored post by Adelaide City Council alerting me to a piece of community engagement that is happening where people are being invited to share their thoughts on some concepts for the revitalisation of a well known street in the city. But it caught my eye because the language was fresh, the graphic was colourful and when I clicked through - as I demonstrate in the video - I said WOW this is REALLY refreshing community engagement. I instantly loved the brand - no yucky 'Have your Say' tripe (a phase you've all come to know that I despise due to its patronising tone, among other things) - but instead a nice clean

As I clicked around, having a good snoop, I was impressed at the range of ways people could get involved - there'd be face-to-face pop ups (not only on the street itself but as part of the Adelaide Fringe), an online survey, written submissions and even a phone number to call to chat to someone. Wow, wow, wow. I made this video to share the good practice with my networks. Inspiration galore! It was only when I messaged my ol' pal Andrew Coulson to ask him if he knew what was going on at Adelaide City Council for there to be such great engagement happening, he told me that Simone and the team were using Social Pinpoint with great success. Oh, Simone! Of course! And then it clicked for me... Simone is a graduate of my Community Engagement Bootcamp! In fact, quite a few of the good people at Adelaide City Council are as I actually delivered the training for them in-house a couple of years ago. So NO WONDER I love what I'm seeing! These wonderful people are singing from the same hymn sheet as I am! I dropped Simone a quick line to congratulate her on the great work and ask her permission to share this. For the icing on the cake she said that Our Adelaide is being received by their community and they're getting huge amount of responses on a number of their projects.
