@thezenhenandthehoneybee: When we plant our seeds in Florida is as important as how we grow them. The heat of Summer here damages pollen during our hottest months decreasing fruit production. We also have considerably more pest activity in the Summers as well. Some foods thrive in the heat while others go directly to seed instead of being productive food producing members of our gardens. Here’s my list of what I’ll be starting from seed in March here in my Florida garden. Keep in mind that there is a world of plants out there, so it is not possible for this list to ge all encompassing. Take away being to make sure to find out what season is best to plant each food in order to be as successful as possible ☺️ Amaranth Beans including Winged Beans! Borage Carrots Cassava Chamomile Corn Cucumbers Culantro Fennel Fruit Trees (zone appropriate) Garden Huckleberry Luffa Malabar Spinach Marigolds Mexican Sunflowers/Tithonia Melons (Eg. Watermelon and Cantaloupe, etc) Nasturtiums Okra Oregano Passion Flower Vines Peanuts Peppers Pumpkins and other Squashes Raddish Roselle Rosemary Shampoo Ginger/Awapuhi Sorrel Southern Peas/Cow Peas/Pigeon Peas Sunflowers Sweet Potatoes Swiss Chard Thyme Tomatoes
What carrots I thought those were a wintertime thing only

I planted cabbage as my winter crop. Some formed good and some barely. Is it time to harvest them now that it's getting warmer?
