@erinrackham: He was able to really help with *her* OCD because he’s had years of practice helping me with *my* OCD. ✅ It’s like trickle-down-therapy! 🙃 #obsessivecompulsivedisorder #ocd #OCDobsessions #OCDcompulsions #noncoerciveparenting #consciousparenting #traumainformedparenting
my stepson and I call it "caveman brain" where our brains still think there's something hunting us when really it's just time to brush our teeth

I didn’t think about the avoidance of demands triggering the cognitive loop that way. I’m audhd and struggled with ocd since I was small. My oldest has moments like this too that you described. Tysm.

I need to understand how to parent while also learning to heal from the trauma. It’s so exhausting all day!

there are two sides to having children like us. they are blessed to have self aware parents to help them through(cuz ummmm we didn't), but it also breaks my heart when they struggle🥺

As someone with adhd the way you described this was for some reason really comforting. It’s really nice to hear this parental understanding

That’s so beautiful. I wish someone had been there to help me with these things as a kid, so I wouldn’t be having to try to hard to learn them as an adult.
