It’s true. Swords are a luxury item. Require lots of metal and high skill. The most common weapon is a spear. Spears are also often better than swords. Watch some combat footage for perspective

I think they even had rules on what colors/material your clothes could be, so that only nobles could wear some stuff so the class divisions were clearer

thats not 100% historically accurate. it depends what time period and who's lands you controlled. also metal was expensive, most tyrannical kings did suppress weapons to masses
