⁨ البيضة | الحديث: سَأَلَ هِشَامَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَ لَكَ رَبٌّ فَقَالَ بَلَى قَالَ أَ قَادِرٌ هُوَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَادِرٌ قَاهِرٌ قَالَ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يُدْخِلَ الدُّنْيَا كُلَّهَا الْبَيْضَةَ لَا تَكْبُرُ الْبَيْضَةُ وَ لَا تَصْغُرُ الدُّنْيَا قَالَ هِشَامٌ النَّظِرَةَ فَقَالَ لَهُ قَدْ أَنْظَرْتُكَ حَوْلًا ثُمَّ خَرَجَ عَنْهُ فَرَكِبَ هِشَامٌ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَاسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أَتَانِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الدَّيَصَانِيُّ بِمَسْأَلَةٍ لَيْسَ الْمُعَوَّلُ فِيهَا إِلَّا عَلَى اللَّهِ وَ عَلَيْكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَمَّا ذَا سَأَلَكَ فَقَالَ قَالَ لِي كَيْتَ وَ كَيْتَ فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَا هِشَامُ كَمْ حَوَاسُّكَ قَالَ خَمْسٌ قَالَ أَيُّهَا أَصْغَرُ قَالَ النَّاظِرُ قَالَ وَ كَمْ قَدْرُ النَّاظِرِ قَالَ مِثْلُ الْعَدَسَةِ أَوْ أَقَلُّ مِنْهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا هِشَامُ فَانْظُرْ أَمَامَكَ وَ فَوْقَكَ وَ أَخْبِرْنِي بِمَا تَرَى فَقَالَ أَرَى سَمَاءً وَ أَرْضاً وَ دُوراً وَ قُصُوراً وَ بَرَارِيَ وَ جِبَالًا وَ أَنْهَاراً فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنَّ الَّذِي قَدَرَ أَنْ يُدْخِلَ الَّذِي تَرَاهُ الْعَدَسَةَ أَوْ أَقَلَّ مِنْهَا قَادِرٌ أَنْ يُدْخِلَ الدُّنْيَا كُلَّهَا الْبَيْضَةَ «3» لَا تَصْغَرُ الدُّنْيَا وَ لَا تَكْبُرُ الْبَيْضَة Imam al-Ṣādiq (peace be upon him) was asked: “Is Allah able to place the entire world inside an egg—without the egg becoming larger and without the world becoming smaller?” The Imam replied: “O Hishām, how many senses do you have?” He said: “Five.” He asked: “Which is the smallest?” He said: “Sight.” He asked: “And how large is the organ of sight?” He said: “About the size of a lentil, or smaller.” The Imam said to him: “O Hishām, then look before you and above you and tell me what you see.” He said: “I see sky and earth, houses and palaces, open plains, mountains, and rivers.” The Imam said: “Surely He who has made all that you see enter into (the faculty no bigger than) a lentil—or smaller—is able to place the entire world into an egg, without the world becoming smaller and without the egg becoming large⁩
