TNHT Staff: @YesThatsDee _________________________ Jacksonville Sheriff T K Waters says the officers who violently arrested Will McNeil Jr earlier this year didn’t break any criminal laws according to the State Attorney’s Office. But Officer Bowers, the one seen in the viral video punching McNeil, has still been stripped of his police powers. _________________________ At a press conference, Waters showed full bodycam footage from all three officers involved. He said he wants to be transparent with the public even when it doesn’t make the department look good. _________________________ The video shows Bowers pulled McNeil over in February for not having his headlights on in what he claimed was bad weather. But in the footage, it’s clear it wasn’t raining. McNeil asked for a supervisor instead of giving his ID, then locked his car door. That’s when Bowers called for backup and threatened to break the window. _________________________ When McNeil didn’t get out, officers broke his window, pulled him out the car, and Bowers punched him in the face twice. That part wasn’t on the bodycam, only on McNeil’s viral video. After being arrested, police say they found a knife under his seat. Officer Miller was also seen turning off McNeil’s recording phone after the incident. _________________________ McNeil’s lawyer says he had a concussion, a chipped tooth, needed stitches, and now suffers memory loss. He was found guilty of resisting without violence and driving with a suspended license. The other charges were dropped.
