Did you know you can take your Nordic hamstring curls to the next level with one simple tweak? Trust me, adding a slight hip hinge before starting your reps might seem like a small adjustment, but it can make the exercise feel smoother, safer, and way more effective for your hamstrings. Here’s the deal…. When you hinge slightly at the hips, you put your hamstrings in a more stretched position. This pre-stretch helps them work harder during the eccentric phase (the lowering part of the curl), which is where all the magic happens for building strength and resilience. Not only does this make the exercise more challenging in the best way possible, but it also reduces your risk of injury by optimizing how your muscles are positioned to generate force. Another big plus is that the hip hinge helps you keep a neutral spine throughout the movement. If you’ve ever felt your lower back arching too much during Nordics, this tweak is for you. By hinging, you avoid that hyperextension and shift the focus to the hamstrings. For me, this little adjustment has completely changed how I approach nordic curls. It’s helped me activate my hamstrings more effectively, eliminated unnecessary compensation from other muscles, and made the whole movement feel more controlled as you can see on the video. If you haven’t tried it yet, give it a go and let me know how it goes.
