@pbsnews: The plastic industry knowingly pushed recycling myth for decades, new report finds The world produces an average of 430 million metric tons of plastic each year. The United States alone produces tens of millions of tons of plastic waste annually. Yet on average, only about 5 to 6 percent of plastic in the U.S. is recycled. NPR correspondent Michael Copley joins Ali Rogin to discuss a new report on the plastic industry’s tactics to push recycling and avoid regulation. #recycling #recycle #plastic #plasticwaste #plasticpollution #plastics #plasticindustry #recyclingmyth #michaelcopley #alirogin #pbsnews #newshour #pbsnewshour #environment

Just focus on consumer plastics. Medical always comes up, but the medical industry plastic use isn't our problem... It's water bottles, containers, ect... Packaging shouldn't be plastic!

Start taxing all non-medical plastic, and we’ll see how “ingrained” it is in society. In the meantime, cities should stop pretending they recycle plastic and glass.
