I agree with you 💯%, honestly as a new grad you have to learn the basics of nursing. I highly recommend MedSurg, or if you're in LTC Subacute rehab.

I agree. Did 2 years medsurg. Charge on med surg. Then 2 years ICU. Finishing CRNA school next month.

As a 15 year MS RN, you don’t necessarily have to start in MS. No matter the speciality, we still have to learn that skill set. Go where your heart tells you to go.

I’m glad my job have a year program to train new nurses in each unit. So once they’re done they go to the unit they are strongest

I went straight into transplant ICU 30 yrs ago did great. you dont have time to focus on the pathophysiology of what's going on with your pt on medsurg...its more task oriented...so I don't think it

I was a new grad and went straight into the ICU and I’ve been doing just fine. Started at a level 1 trauma hospital and went into the NeuroICU

I wish I could talk to someone about switching specialty’s with a vastly different population. I want to to do NICU, but I feel I don’t have the same level of knowledge compared to Adult Medsurg.
