@brutamerica: Former lawyer and convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh was sentenced to 40 years in prison for financial crimes on Monday. The sentence comes after he pleaded guilty to nearly two dozen fraud and money laundering charges last year. In addition to the 40-year sentence, Murdaugh was also ordered to pay more than $8.7 million to the victims. The sentence can be served concurrently with the 27-year sentence he is currently serving for the murders of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul.
