@shayescott: It’s been beautiful to see how my daughter has handled my transition. For years, I was paralyzed by the idea that me being true to myself could harm my kids in someway. Emmeline, being our oldest, was the first to understand what it means to be transgender, and she immediately accepted me. In fact, switching over to “she/her” pronouns seemed so natural for her. Oftentimes in public, she takes my hand or gives me a hug just to show me that she cares.
