These days, popcorn ceilings are associated with all the designs and therefore being dirty/worn out. I don’t think anybody actually hates the texture, they just hate the association with old/dirty.

I don’t mind popcorn ceilings as well. Main reason being, when painting your walls, any little teeny mistakes you make when painting the top edge, the popcorn ceiling will hide that mistake so well!!
