there have been some genetic studies that have brought into question is the saimaa ringed seal actually a subscecies of the ringed seal or it's own species

I just found out there was an article published last year that questions the origins of the Finland Saimaa Ringed seal! It doesn’t have an estimated date of separation but it’s a new theory.

I did a report on harbor seals when I was in elementary school! Can’t remember any of it now but I know we have harbor and lion seals in Southeast AK! Love your content ♥️
