REEL TIP ➡️ Is your reel spooled correctly? If you keep getting wind knots, your reel might not be spooled evenly. You want the line to lay evenly from the top to the bottom of the spool. If your line is bunched up at the top of the spool, that’s a likely reason for getting wind knots. ✅ This is easily fixed by adding the washers that came with the reel. To do this, remove the line, remove the spool, add the washers, add the spool, and respool the line onto the reel. If you keep getting wind knots, you likely don’t have enough line on your reel either, and this can impact your casting distance. If you are fishing with a reel that has lost 40 yards or more off the spool, then there could be a significant impact on your casting distance. That is the difference between you swimming a lure in the strike zone and landing a fish versus casting short and missing opportunities to catch more fish.
