AG land taxes in Illinois aren’t expensive. The taxes on my 100k shack of of a house are higher than the 160 acres farm around me. That farm is worth about 3 million.

Illinois farmer here… it’s the big farmers with everything paid for or farm a lot who can throw out $450-500 an acre cash rent

NE runs $70-100 an acre on irrigated farm ground. I’m not sure how rent is only in $3s with $13-20k ground. Rent is $450-500 here

Farm credit used to be good till they merged with the new company. We went with someone else on our poultry house loan the payment went down only one of the two farms is held now and our house free

not a big fan of most of what this guy says so did a quick check, my neighbors field pays $32 an a acre in Central IL. it doesn't help expenses but there's many more expensive inputs to worry about.
