I think the most shocking part of this EC journey has been how amazing it has been for us. I've had three other kids and I never would have guessed that from birth I could start catching pee/poo on the potty and get to a point by 4 or 5 months old where she wouldn't need a diaper to sleep anymore. To be fair, I absolutely put her in a pull up at night, because while she is almost always dry in the morning, there are the occasional times where there is a miss. The honest truth is that it's because of me though! It's those times where I am just too tired and can't get the energy to take her to a potty even when she is frustrated and clearly signaling... And the worst part is that it would make it so much easier to just go back to sleep if I would just get up and do it, but sometimes I'm just not there! I've had a number of people tell me that their baby did it for X amount of time and then completely stopped for a while and I am keeping that as a possibility, but even if it does happen, I wouldn't regret having done it for the time that I did. We've had almost no diaper rash (during one point we had a tiny bit that went away quickly and it was because I didn't want to get up through the night to potty her, but I quickly changed it up and just brought a little potty next to the bed), far less crying overall (she gets extremely upset if she can't go potty and it's some of the most heart-wrenching cries that I've heard from her- But it's not very often we get to that point), more understanding of my baby and her cues and needs, less time going and changing diapers, significantly less wash, significantly less in purchasing diapers, etc. But, it's still one of those things that gets some very intense and bizarre comments. Most of the time people are just curious and surprised, but then you get people who feel you're a lazy parent or think you are

Most of the time people are just curious and surprised, but then you get people who feel you're a lazy parent or think you are "forcing" your child to grow up early.. And the weirdest one yet, that it was confusing the child about their "anal stage" - a Freudian theory of psychosexual development. That one really left me scratching my head 😅 @babuebabycarriers Baby Carrier #babywearing #eliminationcommunication #baby #diaper #diaperfree
