@zaqym: Total Defence is not just about crisis response. It is about building resilience and readiness consistently. We need every Singaporean to continue playing their part so that Singapore stands ready to respond, no matter what new threats or challenges we face. 🇸🇬💪 These were my key reflections that I conveyed in my keynote address at the inaugural Total Defence Convention today. For the past 40 years, Total Defence has been an effective whole-of-society approach to deal with crises and threats. This is not something that can be mustered in an instant. We must cultivate this continually, even as we experience peace and stability. We will need to continue to evolve the concept as we face new challenges, such as in the digital realm. Hence the introduction of Digital Defence in 2019 as the sixth pillar of Total Defence. Most importantly, I am heartened that Singaporeans continue to believe in Total Defence, as evidenced by the strong participation in #TD40 events this year, such as Exercise SG Ready. The Total Defence Convention today is another such event. This is the first time we are bringing together partners and practitioners to discuss Resilience and Readiness in Crises and Disruptions. The sharing from the line-up of distinguished speakers, including speakers from Germany, New Zealand and Sweden, allowed us to learn from one another on how we continue to strengthen resilience in an increasingly volatile environment. I also had the opportunity to interact with exhibitors who participated in the Total Defence Sandbox, such as Finute. Finute is a team of youths who created a virtual version of Singapore on Roblox, where players can participate in activities representing the 6 pillars of Total Defence. I highly encourage everyone to try your it out, or even get your kids to!
