It’s good money but very very stressful and they have to be ON the full shift- there’s no slacking on their phones or having a bad day. I don’t think I could do that job.

They also get retired very young because they need to keep controllers SHARP! I know two controllers that were forced to retire in their early 40s and I was told that’s common in that field.

lol, I'm an Air Traffic Controller, 15 years of Radar and 1 year of a tower...I used to hate it when people would say "you're in the tower" OR worse "so you use the sticks on the ground" lol

My husband is an ATC in the Bay Area. He started training at 23 I think? He’s been working for 15 years and his base is $211k. They are severely understaffed in his facility so he works 6 days a week.

My dad was a controller for 39 years. Incredible job that provided a great life for our family and he’s loving retirement life now! He always said there was no stress if you know what you’re doing!
