Destroyed my family completely. But I went there every single day after work during the day and my mom was aware of her surroundings. Give yourself some grace. it took me a lonnggg time to be ok.

I can relate to you emotionally. I had to do the same thing with my mom and i beat myself up for years after she passed but I had noone to help me. They didn't want to be inconvenience d.
