@alexisanddean: What is stagflation and is it dangerous? Are we heading into stagflation? #stagflation #inflation #recession #gdp #gdpreport #usd #usdollar #ratecuts #interestrates #fedfundsrate #mortgagetips #money #economics #creditcarddebt #consumerdebt #debt #econ101 #fintok #news #useconomy #inflationreductionact #financialliteracy #financialeducation #financialfreedom #monetarypolicy #fiscalpolicy #powell
Consumer spending is high but so is credit card debt.

I love when people say "there's more jobs than people looking for jobs" Ask anybody who has been laid off and then tell me if that's true

I love your wisdom. Do you think we can get back to a strong economy and lowered prices again? I worry about our children growing up in this.

I have a degree in business and a minor in economics. Retired at 51 after owning 8 businesses. This guy is the smartest economist I’ve ever heard. My favorite follow.

If the inventory thing is true wouldn’t that mean we are coming out of a economic expansion and moving into a recession?

How do you feel about AI taking over jobs and its impact on the market?

I think the jobs are high because companies are not paying a livable wage or having job postings out with no intention of hiring.

People look at just the raw term "jobs." there is much more nuance. lots of openings? yes, BUT lots of these jobs are limited hours with low wage. Lots of people need 2 "jobs" for 1 jobs pay.

but all the jobs are hourly or part time....not many professional full time jobs....nor the pay is lower than it has been while EVERYTHING has gone up. the job market is AWFUL!

Can you define “consumer spending” I am still spending because I need to provide food & clothing for my children. So it goes on my credit card.

I am not sure I trust the job vacancy numbers, I am sure many companies post job openings to try and boost their share price.

Fiscal spending needs to be tighten and cut government programs. Fed needs to hold on tight w/ rates and tell govt to shut up. Govt needs to loosen regs and let the private sector regain control.

Consumers are spending but they are putting it on credit cards, which is not good. Companies can create jobs but doesn’t mean they are filling them. Let’s raise rates and see what happens!

As a recruiter I can assure you the high paying jobs are very low. Corps and tech companies are laying off. Lower paying or gov jobs are supporting the stable jobs data.

Do you think that there are some numbers off in the jobs report. I saw a recruiter discuss this in a stitch where a guy said he sent 1600 resume out and only got one interview.

First time I’ve ever listened and thought - that’s too simple of a spin. The “have nots” are not spending, the “haves” are.

Is it true that majority of those newly created jobs are part time? Are they “come back covid jobs? Or does that matter?

Consumer spending is up because they have to pay more for products. That’s not a great for the consumer, spend more for less.
