We call it CYA. I’ve also taught my kids to communicate via email or messaging. My forms require parent signatures each time.

why give a referral especially if they aren't distracting , they already have a natural consequence for not doing the work either on the assignment or when it comes time to test on the material

I wish I could do this for HS. Over 100 kids & man, that would take so much of my time. When I taught middle school, I did this! But I only had half the amount of kids
