@nettlesandpetals: Top Tips for Growing Great Celery 🌱 Celery can be a tricky to grow and the seeds are small and take quite a while to germinate, so I sow them into open trays instead of individual pots or modules. I just sprinkle them on top of the surface and add a very fine layer of compost as celery seeds actually require light to properly germinate. 🌱 I water them in well and then add a humidity dome to lock in that moisture. Im growing my favourite variety ‘tall Utah’ as well as a red and pink variety. Within a few weeks they should germinate at which point I prick them out by gently prizing them apart and adding them to an individual module to grow on. When they have grown into a young plant I will transplant them into their final growing space and water regularly as they are essentially a bog plant so don’t let them dry out. Once they are mature plants I begin to harvest individual stems as and when I want them and the plant will continue to produce more stems throughout the season, this can really prolong your harvests. Or you can of course harvest the whole plant. So will you be growing celery this season? If so, I hope this helps you grow a great crop! 😊🌱 #sowingseeds #gardeningtips #organicgardening #growyourownfood #vegetablegarden
