Very simple diagnoses get some chlorine test strip and dip in water if present then it’s mains fresh water pipe leaking 👍

close all taps in house, check meter and see if it's running. if yes it's mains. if not AND meter away from house then prob rain water. u need to dig outside of house similar place. but best get pro

get a drain company to send a camera in both directions to see if it has collapsed elsewhere. may be able to map its route too. or get some Eels...

Described our flooded basement as an underground pool to the estate agent. Ours was tanked by previous owner but it failed so fills up but doesn’t drain 😩

I'd check the mains water around the property. if you suspect a drain. issue you can buy drain dye to see if it comes through.

We had the exact same in our basement, bought a 250yr old cottage and in basement we found a 18th Centry spring feeding old Wells round local farms bypassed from a river 6 miles away

My neighbour which I’m attached to lol, has the exact same thing. They were told they have a spring in the basement, and have a sump pump always running when it rains goes up 1m+
