with something so difficult to handle if something goes wrong with the new part you should always have a second and I usually have a third if I'm doing things on the fly. bottom of tank valves are one of those things also live gas is another one sometimes you just have to do it

Try doing that -20 with mud and a 6 inch watermain I’ve done it couldn’t find the other valve the coldness of the water hitting my face was taking away my breathe God bless you for winning the battle
