@sunxueling: In March, I had the honour of representing Singapore at the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations in New York where I shared about Singapore’s progress on gender equality. Singapore is doing well by international standards; the 2023 United Nations Human Development Report’s Gender Inequality Index ranked Singapore 8th worldwide for having among the lowest levels of gender inequality in areas such as education, reproductive health, and labour force and political participation. This achievement is testament to our commitment and effort in empowering our women and girls. MSF Singapore has released a report on the progress of Singapore women since the White Paper on Singapore Women’s Development two years ago and we have seen further improvements in areas like equal opportunities in the workplace, women’s health, and protection from violence. Changing mindsets on gender roles requires the partnership of both men and women. And this partnership starts in the family, continues in our schools, workplaces, and in the community. Let us continue to work together to make Singapore a fairer and more inclusive society. You can read our report here https://go.gov.sg/womens-development-report-2024
