Mastering the Meaning Behind “High Brow and Low Brow”: The Art of Connecting Differently Based on Eyebrow Height If you’ve heard me talk you know I’m fascinated with how we talk about faces more than people realize One particular example is when we are discussing Comedy. We talk about HIGH brow humor and LOW brow humor. * HIGH brow humor is where someone tells a joke and it takes you a minute to get the joke….  * LOW brow humor is when you get the joke immediately, this is the case with physical humor like Jackass or the Three Stooges. An easy way to tell how to handle the approach is to think: * Is their eyebrow higher or lower than 1 finger’s width from the eye? I like to teach people to imagine eyebrows are speed bumps on someone’s face. * Picture data racing down their forehead trying to get to their eyes. * The location of the speed bump determines how fast you can drive * HIGH = If their eyebrow is HIGH then it’s like a speed bump in the middle of the road. You can only go so fast,you have to slow down to go over the speed bump, and then you can speed back up * LOW = If their eyebrow is LOW it’s like putting a speed bump by the stop sign. You can speed down the road and only have to slow down at the very end. Pitching based on the Brows HIGH = Go in —>Give them lots of data —> Give them time to think The Mistake: Some people love to push for 1 call close (aka the quick close). if you push a person with high brows to buy too quickly they will have buyers remorse and either back out of the deal or badmouth you to others.
