@thefitadam: It’s fairly obvious that there’s nothing good about carrying around an excessive amount of body fat… But this study (PMID 35717418) really put it into perspective. It isn’t that hard to plan to add generally healthier habits into your daily routine. The hard part is doing it consistently. If nothing else, knowing that if you have an excessive amount of body fat right now, and you do nothing about it… Your chance of dying of any cause increases might motivate you to make an effort to change that. Of course, body fat alone does not determine health. We need the full story (cardiovascular health, blood pressure, A1C, etc.) And you don’t have to be six-pack lean to benefit, either. 1.
