@mindbrainbodylab: While you might be familiar with PTSD, Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) presents with distinct characteristics due to its origins in prolonged, repeated traumatic experiences. Here's what sets C-PTSD apart: Frequency & Duration: C-PTSD arises from enduring trauma over months or even years, unlike PTSD which can develop after a single event. Emotional Regulation: Managing emotions can be challenging, often leading to intense outbursts. Altered Self-Perception: Individuals might struggle with deep-seated feelings of guilt, shame, or a belief that they are fundamentally different or broken. Interpersonal Struggles: Forming close relationships can be difficult due to pervasive trust issues. Detachment: There may be feelings of disconnection from reality or oneself. Loss of Systemic Belief: A disrupted faith in the world's fairness or humanity. Persistent Sadness: A deep, enduring sadness that differs from typical fluctuations in mood. Physical Symptoms: Symptoms can include chronic pain, migraines, or other unexplained physical issues. Recognizing these signs is the first step towards empowerment. Neuroscience shows us that our brains, though altered by trauma, possess an incredible ability to rewire and recover. Sharing this knowledge not only empowers us but can also help others on their path to recovery. If you or someone you know is navigating these waters, remember: understanding is the first step to healing. #MentalHealthAwareness #CPTSD #Neuroscience #HealingJourney
