Make sure when your grass grows back you change your route while cutting grass like cut in a different pattern or else the grass will only form the same way you cut it. Changing it keeps it neat

Highly recommend rocks over mulch, easier to keep clean and you only have to buy it once whereas with mulch you have to rebuy it everytime it gets low/empty.

I’ve got mulch around my Japanese Kousia Tree. After 2 years, I’ve decided to Belgian Block the diameter. Should make it easier to maintain and cut around

use a black garden ring and do 1 or 2 inch clean rock if you don’t want the mulch in your lawn

As a landscaping expert due to my parents I recommend adding stone around the trees it will help the mulch not get in the grass plus it will make the yard look way nice also black mulch looks way 1/2

Don't do a raised garden, if you cover the trees base, called the "root flare" it kills the tree. I would just do edging
