I'm almost fifty and just learned about object permanence. I always thought I was a bad person, despite knowing I love my people. I've always worried I'm just a narcissist on some level. This is the weird trait that sent me down the adhd rabbit hole for myself. I'm undiagnosed and never dreamed I might be adhd. Thankful for new information on the topic. This wasn't known when I was a kid.

People don't cease to exist for me when I'm not with them, time does. 6 min or 6 months apart feels exactly the same. I can pick up right where we left off 6yrs later like it's nothing
