Typically we don’t charge for NPF it it didnt require teardown. If it was just 10-20min of test driving and finding nothing on inspection then most of my techs wrap it up and call it so they save time

I’ve schooled managers on this subject… every concern is customer paid diag… the tech will determine if its warranty once the problem is found..

I had customer pay $550 to dealer and they couldn’t find his issue. But my shop found and fixed it for $350. So yes this is common.
