Detention is only paid for the time of arrival until the time it is fully loaded. Typing and securing the load is separate.

driver here , the time the driver takes to tarp shouldn't count for detention

Drivers should always be paid for trapping a load no matter what the detention time is or how much it pays tarring is extra I get an extra $200 to tarp and if it’s multiple stops I get $50.00 per stop

100% for once they are loaded. That’s the only legitimate way to prevent fraud aka driver on a pick 8am del 5pm on a 200 mile run, he would be incentivized to take 6 hours to tarp 😭

It takes everyone a different amount of time to throw tarps. Can’t charge for that as it is subjective. How is the broker to know the driver didn’t take his time on the tarp intentionally?

The time rewrite on the bill. Lading. It's from the time we check-in until they're done loading. However long it takes to tarp, that is on the driver

Where I work (Broker company) the OUT time is always when driver gets the paperwork and is good to go, even if he is loaded but hasn’t received ppw, he is not OUT yet bc he is still waiting at the facility

Secure and tarp should be a separate accessorial charge per load but in all reality broker prolly just gonna want a all in rate

Travis Gerads :
When I worked in logistics it was always once loaded. making sure the load is secure is the responsibility of the driver.

It’s the time it takes the shipper to load you from the time you get there. If you take 2 and a half hours to tarp a load that’s your fault

Jason Consani :
depends. is tarping noted on the rate breakdown.

It counts until it’s loaded-not when he departed but in most of the cases they will oay strapping/tarping time too if they decide to lay at all

Driver should be paid for every hour that load consists of from time of dispatch until the next dispatch that’s why nobody wants to be a truck driver
