I always use screws on the hinge side... holds better than nails. I you measure right, they'll be concealed behind the door stop

level is more accurate.The laser is more prone to allow the door to drift rather than be stationary when open

I do use a laser. The very first thing you do when hanging a door is laser the ground to make absolute sure the hinge side is the high side. Don’t just set in on the ground a level it.

The only time in my career I used a lazer level was on a high rise with a ceiling right on top of the metal casing down a long hall. Not really necessary and slows you down. But in the end if you set it perfect it has to work, unless your door is warped or your jamb.
