It’s nice to have clarity about these past moments of confusion and disorientation now that I understand my dissociation better. 🙏🏻 When I was first diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder (DID), I didn’t know if I’d ever be able to really feel peace and trust myself again. Everything just felt so out of control when I was first waking up to how often I was dissociating every day. ❤️‍🩹 It’s taken a couple of years of weekly therapy and a LOT of practice slowing down and helping different alters unburden & feel safe in this current physical reality, but I’m starting to feel confident in my ability to cope with life again—even if it’s just in tiny ways to begin with. 🙌🏻 It’s hard to do life consciously when all you’ve ever known is unconscious living. But it’s incredible to *actually* feel in control of my life for the first time ever. I almost never go into “fawn” trauma responses anymore and it feels amazing! 🥹 #dissociativeidentitydisorder #did #dissociation #dissociationmadesimple #cptsd #traumarecovery
