thanks for pointing out the calling women pretty thing. I always get so mad. Damien chazelle did it in whiplash for evey female character that appeared.

That also isn't Clarice's intro in the final film; she's running the training course. She has less literal protection but also more emphasis on inner strength rather than an action hero's armor & gun.

I've always worried I was gonna get too sleazy when I describe woman characters so I just threw in a (20's, red trench coat, gorgeous) and intro'd her through a chase.

I’ve always believed in revealing the character through their words and action without a big overarching introduction. You still say all those things ultimately and maybe directly but it’s peripheral.
