@okstorytime: AITA for refusing to apologize for not telling my ex son in law about our family's history of mental illness? #reddit #redditstories #redditreadings #reddit_tiktok
Annulment law varies by state. Several have no timelimit and fraud (not disclosing medical history for fear of not wedding) is a valid reason.

Some times it doesn't present itself until they're in their mid 20's. Just because it's in the family doesn't mean they will have it.

He’s trying to get out of child support but most importantly alimony which would be him paying his ex money

Alimony often has an end date but because they were married for so long California allows it to last indefinitely with few exceptions.

Familial medical history is like one of the first things you talk about when you’re considering marriage if something didn’t get brought up in passing.

Schizophrenia isn’t always genetic and it’s dormant until awakened so if no one in her family triggered it they would have no idean

She literally said she was diagnosed with schizophrenia a few years into the marriage. A 20 year marriage 17 or so of which were after diagnosis… obviously she didn’t know. You read that.

You said she was diagnosed a few years into the marriage so that’s not the parents fault. He might have a leg to stand on if he left her as soon as they found out.

my grandad's dad actually annulled his marriage when my grandad was like 20 so yes you can lol. he wanted to get remarried and be able to take communion and you can only do that if you do an annulment.

What I understand is a annulment is when they never get hit and heavy if you know what I mean hahaha

My hubs has bipolar disorder and refused lithium due to the damage it can cause to the liver/kidneys as it’s a salt. He takes depakote

Meds for schizophrenia are not great. A lot of side effects the husband is an idiot but the family should have warned him more. But he decided to stay so boohoo

1. 25 years ago mental health was not what it is today. 2. EVERY family has mental health issues in their family.. full stop. 3. you can develop a mental health issue at any time regardless of genetic

It’s religious. In the eyes of the church the marriage was never a valid one.

he wasn't lied to. he found out she had it the same time she found out. it wasn't up to the parents to tell him past family members history. if it was a problem he could left decades ago.
