@edwin_tong: [Celebrating Sporting Excellence!] There is really nothing like celebrating sporting achievements to bring people together, inspire, motivate and galvanise even more success. It also brought a little tear to my eye too, watching the key moments of our sporting successes replayed on the video, but at the same time, knowing how much effort and sacrifice each of our athletes (and the village of support behind them) put in to fight their dragons and achieve success. Many of our athletes found podium success, some hit personal bests, others battled back from injury, adversity and other challenges. Some others put in Herculean efforts but it was not to be, and were disappointed at not qualifying or not medalling. But they are all champions, each one of them, an inspiring story of grit and determination. They are all Team Singapore. A big shoutout to all our award winners including: Sportsman of the Year - Darren Ong (Bowling) Sportswoman of the Year - Shanti Pereira (Athletics) Sportsboy of the Year - Max Maeder (Sailing) Sportsgirl of the Year - Zeanne Law (Wushu) To all our athletes : we will continue to be behind you to support and cheer you on in both successes and defeats!
