Yeeeeep. I'm a pediatric ER RN and I hear it all time. Previously, I was a Registered Veterinary Technician for 16 years and I heard it all the time then too 😒

I'm a math teacher and it annoys me to hear people say that the best math Ts are the ones who struggled themselves. I always found the subject easy and I LOVE making it feel easy for others.

YES! I’m an incoming ms1 now, but when I worked as a SA victim advocate, I would get that comment all the time. I always wanted to say if you’re so empathetic, why aren’t you supporting survivors?!!

I'm a child psych intern and I've gotten this a few times. it's an odd comment because empathy shouldn't be about how someone's pain makes YOU feel but rather how it helps you understand them.

I am EM. people love saying it + trauma dumping about something they've seen / asking about the worst thing I've seen. I try my hardest for it to not come up in conversation

not exactly the same but I’m pre-vet and so many people say “I could never be a vet, I care too much about animals”. I care so much! that’s why i’m doing this!
