I had a teacher bump me from a 63 to a 70 the semester my dad passed away and I’ll always be grateful for him. He knew I could do it, I just wasn’t in the right headspace at the time

my junior year, I was really struggling because my home life at my dad's was 100% survival mode. my history teacher never let me get lower than a c, tutored me extra, helped with my math homework.

KyleQuintonCox :
Unless your grading is 100% objective- only right/wrong w/ no judgment calls- then who is to say that 88 shouldn’t be a 90.

If I have to give a 50 to the kid that does nothing, it’s only fair to bump up two points to those kids who do well

I don’t round at all ever. They already get 50% for nothing and unlimited retakes on assignments and tests (district position). I’m not doing more.

Where were y’all when I was in high school I had an English teacher bump me down from a 96 to a 91 because and I quote “I didn’t deserve a better grade than a student who only got a 93”

Erynn Penuel :
If it is 89.2, I’ll round IF they have really tried and had great attendance. If it is 89.5-89.9, our system automatically rounds.

I have a redo policy for work turned in on time so sometimes I have them retake something like a vocab quiz that they did poorly on and that usually gives them points

I once got 44 bc I didnt realize the test paper was two-sided. The teacher was like "🤦♀️..How about I change this grade to whatever score you get on the next test?" Ended up with two 89s! 😁

sometimes the difference between an A/B or passing/failing is one exam with an outlier score. i feel like general rules like this make kids lose trust in teachers /:

I always think it’s wild like in middle/high-school now when teachers won’t round cause in college (including my masters) I’ve def had professors round up grades a lot more than they should have 😂😂

If I was at 89.5 I wouldn't even ask for the bump because I care that little about my grades.

Our APs told us to think about the kid and the whole year and “what it would mean for them”. Excuse me….do the effin work and you’ll get the grade.
