You are his protector. You may not be literally between him and the storm, but that’s how it feels to him. My son’s german shepherd does the same thing anytime there’s a storm or fireworks.

Honestly my dogs are inside dogs, when they need to potty in my fenced yard I go with them. If we get thunder and/or lightning...my boys need to behind me or laying on top of me. You're his safe place
