you do have that ability with HDMi, you just plug the sound system or sky box cable into the HDMI(CEC) port and it does it

I still have a scart lead. The BIGGEST loss was the RS232 interface lead. No one remembers that interface lead. Gutted.

I remember having to reach behind the TV and blindly swap the SCART leads over. Very satisfying to get the plug in first time, and it taught me a lot of lessons for later in life

I loved the 21pin SCART socket. As mentioned by Hazza, auto-selecting AV mode (pin 9?) gave me so much pleasure lol. I also was obsessed by the 180deg 5pin DIN socket on old cassette radios/stereos.

My games consoles: PS5, and Switch can both wake up the TV Via HDMI when connected, it’s a feature you can choose to turn off but why would you? And I don’t miss Scart leads at all
