So.....the landlord doesnt get to reclaim HIS OWN PROPERTY. 40 years???? Why couldnt they buy their own home? It doesnt belong to them, what a dangerous and absurd precedent to set.

I’m sorry but that’s not right. The landlord is probably losing money due to property taxes and repairs— and really after 40 years, he probably really does want his property back by now.

You are able as a landlord to give them notice that you are talking back the property but it sounds like it wasn’t done correctly. I also wonder what the lease agreement looks like in this situation
