Yup. I had admin go in and change a grade for players. I screenshot that so fast and reported them to the Superintendent. Nothing was done. But I tried.

Exactly. They’re called student athletes because they’re students first! I’m grateful to have worked with coaches who hold their students accountable for their grades before they can play

I appreciate good coaches. Student is misbehaving or not doing work, talk to coach or just "threaten to" and it's usually taken care of.

this!! i’m in college and i’ve seen athletes try to get away w certain things and were baffled when they realized they weren’t getting special treatment from professors

If only that were true. I had a football player punch a kid in front of me. He got sent home and then came back that afternoon for practice. Never missed a practice or a game 🤦🏻♀️

there's a difference between changing grades and allowing an athlete to extend the assignment because they have one day to do and it's a game that's far away so they don't get back home until past 11

Heck no. When I was a coach, I told my athletes that they were students first and athletes second. And I actually did bench an athlete for not completing work and having an F in a class.

The REALLY frustrating part is when you start letting a coach know weeks in advance the kid is not doing work in class but nothing changes until the kid has an F. Then you start hearing back!

A buddy got into a fight with the team kicker, he got ISS for four days and the football player got only to do an essay cuz he needed to be in practice for the game on Friday. His gf did his essay

As a coach, I expect the STUDENT-athletes to take care of their grades. I never beg to pass a kid, I ask why they failed so I can help them next time.
