As a former employee we weren’t allowed to even mention it. We couldn’t tell clients, they had to only find it online. It was a hush hush thing because of this reason!

Honestly you have to try pretty hard to fail to make a profit in a credit card in the US. The rewards come from the merchants paying processing fees which depending on the card can be up to 4% for reward cards. The card fees and interest are the icing on top that is where they really make bank but there are multiple organisations that run fee free (to the consumer) cards on the processing fees alone.
