South African here. Damn I haven't had koeksisters since my gran died. I loved them as a kid but found them too sweet as I grew older. Should ask my mom to make some, yours look really good👍🏽

Koeksisters are so iconic. There are a variety of Afrikaner deserts like koeksisters, melktert, pampoenfritters (you can probably directly translate these but this is what most people call them).

these are the NEATEST koeksisters I've ever seen. The ones I know of aren't glazed but marinated in that syrup overnight or for days even. Has to be like a marachino cherry
